Jeff Beck Group – Beck-Ola (1969)

Description

Jeff Beck Group Beck-Ola vinyl captures Jeff Beck and his band pushing their heavy blues-rock sound even further on the group’s 1969 follow-up to Truth.

The lineup features Jeff Beck on guitar, Rod Stewart on vocals, Ron Wood on guitar and bass, Nicky Hopkins on piano and Tony Newman on drums.

The album opens with a muscular version of Elvis Presley’s “All Shook Up” and moves through “Spanish Boots,” “Girl From Mill Valley,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Plynth (Water Down the Drain)” and “The Hangman’s Knee” before closing with the instrumental “Rice Pudding.”

The rear jacket identifies the album as Beck-Ola / Cosa Nostra, while the Epic record labels use simply Beck-Ola. The memorable cover reproduces René Magritte’s painting La Chambre d’Ecoute.

This U.S. Epic reissue was pressed at Columbia’s Carrollton plant and carries G1 identifiers in the runouts.

The vinyl grades VG++ and has been fully play tested. Playback is excellent, with only slight surface noise audible during quiet passages. The cover also grades VG++ and remains clean and very presentable.
