Description
George Benson In Flight vinyl
George Benson followed the enormous success of Breezin’ with 1977’s In Flight, another beautifully produced blend of jazz, soul and sophisticated funk.
Produced by Tommy LiPuma and recorded and mixed by legendary engineer Al Schmitt, the album surrounds Benson with an exceptional group of musicians including Phil Upchurch, Ronnie Foster, Jorge Dalto, Stanley Banks, Harvey Mason and Ralph MacDonald. Claus Ogerman supplied the orchestral arrangements.
Highlights include Benson’s beautiful interpretation of “Nature Boy,” the extended “The World Is a Ghetto,” Donny Hathaway’s “Valdez in the Country,” and “Everything Must Change.”
This U.S. Warner Bros. BSK 2983 copy carries TML-S in the deadwax, indicating mastering through The Mastering Lab; the album credits Doug Sax with mastering.
The vinyl has been play-tested and grades VG+, playing very well overall with only slight surface noise noticeable during some quieter passages. The original gatefold jacket also grades VG+, showing moderate age-related edge and corner wear and light creasing while retaining excellent overall presentation.
Also included is the original Warner Bros. “Supergroup” promotional insert, advertising the label’s period double-LP sampler.
